The emotional side of a Personal Injury Attorney?

We've talked about the "technical" side of what goes into a Personal Injury case and if you haven't read it yet please click HERE.

I want to talk to you today about the "other side" of being a Personal Injury Attorney.  "The softer side."

As a client all you see is the professional caring side of your Attorney.
As the Insurance Company all you see is the augmentative side of the Attorney.

Now take these two sides and multiply them by 100 (let's just assume that is how many cases a firm has going on at once).

What an exhausting job it has to be.  An Attorney who does the work (not the big firms who have multiple employees to do the work for them) does not get into this type of practice "for the money."  Yes it may seem like a lot of money (again hope you read the blog on the technical side) but they get into this type of practice because they are "driven" to it for one reason or another.

When I speak to Personal Injury Attorneys (the ones who do the work and are passionate about what they do) I will find one common thread among them; an accident of some type happened in their lives and justice was not served.  When this happens it is not a job for them, it is not a career for them....it is a way of life.  They work harder on each individual case to correct the "wrong" that happened many many years ago.

You will find these Attorneys not on the golf course, not at the Country Club....but behind their desk for 18 hours a day.  They work 18 hours a day because they can only talk to the Insurance Companies during the day...now let's add the time difference and it makes for a very long day.  Crossing the "T's" and dotting the "i's" cannot be done during the hours that they can speak to Insurance Companies, Doctor's, etc.

These are the Attorneys you want on your side if you are ever in a car accident.  You want the Attorney who will talk to YOU, not the assistant in the office (although at times it is important that you talk to the assistants).  You don't want to hire a firm that you NEVER get to talk to the Attorney.  In every job or career when it becomes "real" or "personal" the outcome is better.  When dealing with the big firms that you never talk to the Attorney...all they know about you is from the notes....it is not personal!  It is not about you!

If you are hurt in a car accident don't be swayed by the "he got me a million dollars for my case" commercials.  Don't be swayed by the smooth talking commercials as that may be the only time you actually "see" your Attorney.  Go to a firm where you actually MEET with the Attorney before you hire the Attorney.
